Reminds me of tourists trying to pose with lions for selfies on safari in Africa.

It never ends well for the tourists, and unfortunately the lions get a bad rap for just being true to themselves.

My sympathies to the victim and her family.

Not sure if she was trying for selfie in this case.

How would her hands got bit if she did a selfie?
Not the selfie hand, but her other hand patting Sharkie “the friendly lab” on the head … ?

Ok, apologies for the now-deleted post making a joke, but seriously, this is not a shark attack. She knew the shark was there and deliberately engaged with it anyways. Hopefully someone somewhere learns something from this.
Using a GoPro on a long stick and point it to the shark would be a safer way of videoing the shark underwater. If the shark thinks the GoPro is food, it may just bite on the GoPro, not your hands, which are a couple feet away from the GoPro. You can just let the stick go with shark. The shark will eventually spit it out later when it realizes that GoPro isn’t food. Your hands are stay where they are belong unscratched.

How did you know that she patted the shark on the head with one hand and did a selfie with the other hand? If she did so, how both of her hands got bit off?

First paragraph …

A shark bit the hands off a woman along the shore of a Caribbean beach while she was trying to take a picture with it.
