for the Michigan trip is August 2, 2003. This was the most voted for date in the poll. I have sent an e-mail to the dive boat operation but have not yet heard from them. If I don't get an e-mail from them in a day or two then I will call and set a date with them.

As soon as I know details I will post them in this thread.

IMHO it would be good for those wanting to go to have done your agency's advanced course and do some deep dives prior to the trip.

Also consider taking a nitrox course. If you plan to use nitrox be aware that you may need to bring your own tanks as the last I heard from Lost Yooper nitrox was scarce in that area.

We could always manufacture our own Nx in the hotel room if we take our O2.

All the times I have dove up there you could not get Nitrox fills. You can get them up at Whitefish pt which is in the middle of no where but cannot at the Straits. Makes no sense to me... Hey JBD, which charter did you end up useing?

Jeff

the operator of Abyss Diving Charters this evening. At this time there can be two boats available for the afternoon of August 2nd.
Also there is one boat available for Sunday morning August 3rd.

Two boats would allow for 12 people to dive. If we wanted to dive Sunday morning we would need to find another dive operation that for that morning to provide the second boat.

The Sunday morning dive is slightly more expensive than the Saturday afternoon dive.

I need at least 5 people to commit and would really like for 11 to commit to this trip.

Those wanting to go on this trip need to be comfortable diving to 100 feet and with visibility around 15 feet. The viz on site can be up to 50 feet but there is a reasonable chance that it may be in the 15 to 30 foot range.

Wrecks mentioned during our conversation---Cedarville, Barnum, Sandusky, North West, Maitlan, Stalker, and William Smith.

Depths are mostly 65 to 100 feet deep. There are descent lines in most cases.

I have not yet looked into lodging but will do so in the next week or so.

PM me if you are interested in this trip.

there are 4 names in the hat for the Michigan trip---2 south of the border and 2 north of the border.

Sorry cant make the date.

if anybody is interested JBD, then you could also set up a run to our area here at the mouth of the saint lawrence river in ontario.

would be about the same distance from you, has some awesome wrecks, and I would volunteer the use of my boat ( will handle about 6 divers and gear)

just an idea ;)

in the works for September. Check with DivingGal.

Well, I have some news...first the good...

Thanks to Chad, I'm going to make it down for the DIRF class in June. I'm not so sure how that is going to swing the priviliges for making a wreck diving trip in August though. I am still very interested in making that trip and am going to do everything within my power to make that happen. AKA..I'm going to have to kiss a little rear and make a few more dinners on important dates between now and then.

Anyway...that's the news...I'm going to talk to Brian and hopefully Ber sometime in the next week and see if there's any interest from the WSU crowd...

cancel the DIRF and dive the Straits;)

Better yet cancel the DIRF and dive NC with us and then dive the Straits also. NC should have some sharks to see as well as the wrecks.

Everybody has to promise you won't tell Chad about this post:D
