Found my first 4 golf balls of the season skindiving in a local pond last night after work. That's the best I can do until we have our first OW checkout dives on 5/7.

My son moved to Indiana to go to school so I'm spending my first week all alone, with no kids in the house, in 25 years. It sucks. For now anyway.

I saw my first blue ringed octopus on the weekend which was very exciting. It was in about 6m of water under a jetty. Here's a pic of it...

Mel :)

Not to hijack the post, but is that the octo that kills you in 10 minutes if it bites you? I've never seen one either and I thought they were endemic to the Indo Pacific.

Last week did my first dive off my new (1974) boat. It needs tank racks and platform and it will be a great dive boat.

Bought my first stage bottle yesterday to sling as redundant gas supply. I don't have a regular dive buddy and always have to take the buddies I find on the dive boat. I've had enough experiences finding myself "solo diving" that I've sworn to have my own redundancy.

wow... some nice stuff here... mine are sort of lame

--did my first real "dry" dive this Saturday (my prior three or four "dry" dives
were rather "wet" due to a leak)

--did my first dive into a syphon (with an instructor) this Sunday

--went into the main cave at Manatee Springs for the first time this Sunday

--dove a steel 120 for the first time this Sunday

That's not lame at all, Andy. But that's not the point either. I hope this thread doesn't degenerate into oneupmanship. I started it because I'm curious who is out there moving their diving up the experience ladder. It doesn't matter at what point on the ladder you find yourself.....The moving is the important thing.

And it doesn't surprise me that you're posting.

After more than 60 dives in my dry suit that involved some form of getting wet I FINALLY had my first dry dives :) Now I just have to work on getting warm.

I also managed to slowly swim under a low platform in the quarry without blowing any silt from the bottom and only touching the top twice with my fin tips while wearing the dry suit I've had so much trouble controlling.

The GLWC Meet and Greet weekend was the first time I've felt like I might actually be gaining control over the dry suit and the new back inflate bc I bought last year. I do need to add about 4 lbs to my harness to compensate for the extra insulation I've been wearing though, 26 pounds isn't quite enough.

Hey Ferrari,

WHen you stay dry for a long time you forget what it's like to be wet. Then you can rationalize why you don't have to dive.

This is utter nonsense. Listen to yourself homeboy, you are losing it!

Get your bum in the water.

Lol you're probably right. I'm going to see about helping out the guy with the flooded mine on his property and wants to know what's down there. That might be fun and different.

Doesn't sound too lame, Andy, but for the non-anglophones among us, what the heck's a "syphon"?

To me, it sounds like something you'd find in a toilet to assist in flushing, but somehow I doubt that you went diving in a toilet ;) (had it been pipedope or GaryD, it'd not surprise me, though....)
