A diver should be able to dive both steel and AL. tanks in any invironment. Blanket statements maybe the "G" mans way of diving, but it does very little for divers that travel the world with different exposure needs.

would like to do tech warm water diving with a 3mm and doubles steel tanks I use for cold water

but back plate and dubble steel = 20-25 lbs if my wing blows i am a anchor on the bottom ideas ?

and don't say dive dry that would suck in 75-80 water
Take two things along with you and diving steels in a wetsuit is just fine...
A buddy and a second (decent) lift bag (with a dump valve).
But don't take my word for it - try it. It's no big deal.

I guess you can do what you want but I've done plenty of dives in my drysuit in those temps and it works great for me. In fact diving a dry suit in Florida caves (72ish) I've even gotten cold because I wore too little underneath for the length of the dive.

If I need a suit...it's a dry suit, especially when it comes to technical dives which tend to run on the long side with a decompression obligation that may prevent me from ending the dive just because I'm a little cold.

No doubt some don't get cold as easy as I do but, if you ask me, 75 degree water can get feeling pretty cool during a long hang.

I have dived my double 104's in the local quarry with just a light wet suit. It's a sad story but my dry suit got left behind and I had a class to teach. Just to be sure I tried swimming them up from the deepest depth that I was going to dive and had no problems. I would NOT, however, want to try to get through decompression or out of a cave/wreck that way.

What about the new DUI 30/30™ Latitude dry suit? It's for warmer waters.

I have to add that diving dry in 75-80 degree water does not suck at all, if done with proper underwear for the conditions.
On the other hand, I personally prefer to dive wet at those temperatures most of the time.
The issue for steels is redundant lift. Dry suit, lift bag, either suffices.

dual bladder wings with dump valves solves the problem of diving wet with twin steels as far as safety is concerned . a lift bag will also add another layer of safety if you should get stuck in the bottom after both of your wings fail (if thats ever happened) and if you dive with your buddy thats another layer.

I dive all the time here in FL with twin PST 100's, and all summer long dive with a 3 mill wetsuit. BUT, i have a dual bladder wing, and also carry a Lift bag. No biggie, I see cave diver's all the time up at ginnie dive double's on there back, going in wet, with a single cell bladder. If it was upto me, id dive dry all the time. My DUI 350 TLS fit's like a pair of Pj's, so confortable.

When i cave dive, i wear my drysuit with 150 gram undergarment's, and have a dual bladder wing.

When i wreck dive in the summer here off FL, i wear my double's with a wetsuit, having a dual bladder wing, and a lift bag.

I see nothing wrong diving wet with Double's, i see people here in FL, both in cave's and wreck's, diving wet, as long as you have 2 sorce's of lift , and of course a buddy ;)

Did a few dives out of S. Fla. years back. Started out with DUI Trilam, long undies, no hood, tropical gloves and was fine. Tried 3mm shorty on next dive and was great on bottom but got cold quick on deco. Since then any deco dive calls for a dry suit in my plans.
