I am taking my advanced nitrox. I am debating between Advanced Nitrox/Deco Specialist with IANTD or TDI Advanced Nitrox/Deco Prodcedures. Since the IANTD limits you to 20 mins of deco time, and no deeper then 20 feet, what does the TDI limit you too. What skills do TDI do? I have read the standards for IANTD but i cant find them for TDI can anyone help me out??

They are very similar. I'm not sure what you mean by "no deeper than 20 feet." That sounds like deco with 100% O2 and IANTD will only certify you for deco with 50%. TDI certifies you for 100% O2. Both of these are strictly intro with a depth limit of 150 feet and 1 deco gas.

Is there a time limit for the amount of time you can do deco for?with TDI

I took the TDI classes and I don't remember any specific time limit. 20 minutes of deco is more than adequate for the depth limitations and the single deco cylinder. If you're looking for a class that will take you from novice to extended range making very deep dives with long deco, you won't find one. It is a long and difficult path with many classes. Of course, there is nothing to stop you from diving beyond any class limits, if you want to take that kind of chance.

I was also wondering if your age could be wavied to do the deco?

Your age?

i was wondering to if some class age limits could be waived because im 16 and some classes i prefer to take with tdi but if the age cannot be waived i will be forced to use iantd

There is a lot of instructor lattitude in tech diving, but I would expect them to have higher standards rather than lowering them. There is no guarantee that an IANTD instructor would accept you as a student and no guarantee that you will get certified. You need to speak to your proposed instructor. This isn't like PADI.

This is too much... Tech, we have sat here and read through your posts, but don't you think this is getting old. Are you trying to learn to be a tech diver, or are you the deep sea diver that you claim to be? Try to be upfront with us now, otherwise you will not get any serious reply from most anyone. It seems that you are burning bridges faster than they can be built.

Scubadiver56, its OK to wait for the TDI class. It never hurt anyone to have too much experience when starting Tech classes. I had over 10 years of experience with over 1000 divers before I began my ADV. Nitrox/Deco class. Do yourself a have, start collecting the gear that you need (extra regulators, doubles, misc equipment) and dive with the stuff within your experience level. It will make your class all the easier without worrying about your gear purchases on top of your class. Don't worry, you've got plenty of time.

This thread is the only one that has been useful. He has confirmed what we all suspected, that Tech is just a kid. ;)
