Well, I guess I'm not even allowed to ask if someone has a new or old manual. I guess that is to DIR for them. LOL Holy weenieism.

I didn't realize that's what you were doing ... I thought you were pointing out a typo ... lots of scuba manuals have those.

Its not a typo. Its the authors attempt at humour in the dive manual. My understanding is that TDI was going to rewrite that manual.

No, no, no. Isn't it "ert you" (as inERT)? I read the TDI manuals for deco proc/adv nitrox when my buddy was taking the course. Sorry, the manuals were horrible. Feel free to defend TDI instruction, but please, you lose a lot of cred if you defend (at least these two) manuals.

You're right. Thats how it was.

The typo was mine.

I think we most all agree they are a bit dated the early manuals,,,,next topic!

So, which agency currently has both the best and most up to date manuals?

As an agency I believe that TDI is behind the curve and is stuck in diving concepts that are 20+ years old. I haven't seen any of the new materials, but the materials that I have show that. That's not to say that the individual instructor may take the class into the new millennium and teach some updated concepts.

Your profile states that you are all of 26 years old. Are you saying that you remember the state of diver education from before you were 6? Technical diving education did not even exist at that time. Twenty years ago divers were being taught that breathing anything but air in non-commercial, non-scientific diving would kill you. The technical agencies, including TDI, have come a long way in a very short span of time.

Thanks, Captndale, that was nicely put.

To follow your line of reasoning, nobody should comment on anything that is older than his/her age. Not wars, theology, social events, history, etc.
