Layne.... thanks for that insight on the SSI programs...I know they are new....would love to see and review the SSI tech manuals at some point!

Anytime, I have them all obviously..

Cool...always open to new ideas...and the review of traditional ones.

How do TDI instructional materials stack up against NAUI materials?

When I took my NAUI Advanced Trimix/Deco class, the instructor chose to use TDI materials rather than NAUI materials. Having (since then) looked at what NAUI was using, I think that was a good decision.

In any case, the best - most relevent - materials came in the form of handouts that weren't from any agency ... they were articles from various sources on topics discussed in the class.

Were the manuals old or new?

Did it talk about inert gasses being bad because they can urt you?

Oh Jeff ... I wouldn't even go there. One of my biggest complaints about Dan McKay's (otherwise excellent) book "Dress for Success" was that he could've used a good editor.

Most of the course materials I've seen from various agencies ... especially the NAUI materials I use to teach my own classes ... could use some of the same ...

I have not yet seen Steve Lewis's (Doppler's) new TDI Advanced Trimix Manual, however, I have heard it is excellent also. I look forward to seeing it.

Doc I would send you mine to look at...but I literly have used it so much that I finally had to tear it down...punch holes in the pages and place in a 3-ring binder---lol Steve did a great job on the rewrite.

I know i don't have much experince in the way of agencies and training for that matter, but i just got done with the Understanding NItrox (TDI) manual, and all in all i thought it was alot better than the OW SDI Manual. Everything made sense, and wasn't all that hard to get thing figured out.

Well, I guess I'm not even allowed to ask if someone has a new or old manual. I guess that is to DIR for them. LOL Holy weenieism.

I have never looked at the TDI Nitrox book since I took my class through PADI.....I heard like your review it was good stuff.
