Since cost seems to be a factor consider this. Find out what the cost of helium is in your location. GUEdivers believe they are too affected by nitrogen narcosis to function below about 60ft so they insist on trioxic mixes like 30/30 to dive below 100ft. This could really tip the scales as far as cost goes. If you wish to do wreck training the gas fees could be a killer. TDI is my vote.

jccl:
i've completed my PADI OW, AOW and Rescue, and am wondering what path to take from here on. My main goal is to improve my diving techniques, and to eventually dive wrecks, so its' either DIR or TDI.

I hope I’m not confusing you further, but I feel that I should mention another training agency. Although I took my basic nitrox and Dolphin SCR courses/training with TDI and hopefully will be taking a DIR-F with Gideon Liew sometimes this year, there are many very competent divers who were trained by IANTD (International Association of Nitrox and Technical Divers).

IANTD SE Asia is actually based in Singapore (at 196 Pandan loop #07-08, Pantech Industrial Complex, Singapore 128384; contact Khoo Soo Seng at tel: 65 6776 7227 or khooss@singnet.com.sg).
