pvc piping, half inch, i built a 4 tank rack, can be used vertical or horizontal, i'll try and take a pic and post here, but basically, you have 2 pvc pipes running between each tank,heres a very very rough sketch, this was done in 30 seconds, forgive me
 
dang...I need to get into the stainless steel tank rack buisness...

mossym- it will be interesting to see how that sched 40 holds up...I don't know if I would trust sprinkler pipe :D Seems like there would be a fair amount of flex allowed.
 
been using it for a year without a problem. Some industrial strength adhesive locking it together and it holds just fine. None of the bits are overly long so they don't bend much.

I think JohnD's interest is in vertical tank mounts, which are a bit harder to DIY than horizontal ones (though my own pool noodle-DIY's work fine for me). How's about we hear some do-it-yourself tips for vertical mounts?
