Tank holders for the boat- the suction cup variety

For all but the calmest waters, these tank holders, and the similar ones with aluminum tracks are a joke. It is highly unlikely that you will ever see any of these on a boat that regularly runs in rough seas. Most captains who regularly traverse rough seas use good old bungee cord for tanks that do not fit in their benched tank racks. All it takes is a bolted wood strip with holes drilled VERTICALLY so that the bungee material may be knotted underneath. That way a worn bungee can be replaced almost instantly, and unused loops can be flattened against the strip by pulling down the bungees from below. If the strip is properly positioned, long or short tanks can be held, and doubles are no problem. If asthetics is an issue, the wood strip can be glassed and gelcoated before installation.

Not a bad idea, keyshunter. I might think about crafting something and doing the glass/gel coat finish to make it "blend in".

If I go the suction cup route, I would surely add bungee cords to them for additional security.
