There are several wetsuit manufacturers that will customize their suits for big or tall divers, and you'll really want a good fitting wet or dry suit to be comfortable. This is the season of cold diving, if people in your area are diving in cold water. . . Dry suits are the warmest option, and the most expensive, and require extra training. Most likely you'll want to deal with a local shop that can train you in using a dry suit.

Wetsuits are easier to dive with for a beginner, if you'll be diving in warmer water. Your local dive shop may represent a wetsuit maker that will custom make your suit. Or, if you can't find local help, turn to the web. There are several US made manufacturers, but many are made in Thailand, and a company logo is added. The makers in Thailand also deal direct over the internet, and have a good reputation. Dress it up with a custom color stripe(s).

How much thermal protection you need is an individual decision. I have a dive partner on his third wetsuit. . . Finally he ordered a custom suit, He's a little guy, 6' 5" and around 400 lb. His first suit was a 5 mil and he would overheat diving with other divers in 5 mil suits. . . He got a good fitting 3 mil suit and wears it until the summer months then just a T shirt.

If you can get experienced help from a local dive shop, that's the best choice. . . If there is no local help, The internet can help you get comfortable. BC's are also adjustable for the Big and Tall guy. . . no local shop had a good fit for my friend so with the internet he hooked up with a manufacturer in Florida Zeagle dive gear. You can talk to the owner and get his advise, and trust it.

When you're comfortable in the water, you'll love it like us little folk.
