Is it better to be tall or short in scuba diving?

I've never found anything off the rack to be even close. I'm 6'-7", 230#. 46" in the chest, and 36" in the waist. Add to that a 36" inseam and 38" sleeve, there is nothing but custom..

Just to get certified, I had a custom suit made. After college (and college sports) I put on 50#, and with a real job, a drysuit was made for me. Then a 7mm 1-piece for when water is warm.

Let's not talk about bc or plate adventures..

I am almost the same size as you, the Henderson XXLT 5mm fit really well, the legs and arms run a little long, even for me. It is starting to get well ventilated, so I bought the 7mm version on line. It is snugger, and if I was buying in the store, I might have tried the XXXL version. I am only planning to use it early and late in the season and the 5mm in the summer.

Shorter divers can be used to cushion your landing should you fall. I also like that I can take off my fins where they are still swimming.

I am 6'5", 190 lbs. I see a lot of mentions of wetsuits. This is a completely unsponsored plug for Aquaflite wetsuits. I've ordered two from them, and my partner ordered one for her certification course. The prices are essentially the same as most off-the-shelf wetsuits I've seen...for a custom wetsuit that fits great. For example, with the current prices a 3 mm fullsuit is $157 and a 7 mm fullsuit is $207, plus a $98 custom fitting charge. If you order more than 1 wetsuit, the custom fitting charge is not applied to the 2nd wetsuit, it's just once per order.

You do have to have someone to take measurements of you, as 27 separate measurements are needed, but the suits have fit very well.
