Why do you want someone to talk you out of the purchase?
It's not a request, it's a challenge. Based on what I've read, I haven't found a better reg out there. And it is not much more expensive than the SK-25/S600, which a lot of people where I dive have, or several of the APEKS (and considerably cheaper than the Status). If you are convinced there is a better reg (not for the price, but just flat better), I'd love to hear it.

I'm a fan of Apeks regs, but I have to say the Status may just be the hokiest gadget ever. For one thing, you have to orient the display up to even get an IP reading, it doesn't work otherwise. More important (IMO) is that it needlessly complicates a regulator. Everything the status does can be done with one of these plugged into a standard inflator hose connection -- and all for about a Jackson or so.

Reasons not to buy the B2:

#1: Comfortable 2nd stages are for wimps
#2: Dry breathing? But I'm underwater - why would I want that?
#3: 2nd stage swivels are SO 2 years ago
#4: Titanium? That's the stuff that corrodes right?

:D

I love my B2. Best reg I've ever used.

Now, you are just opening the book>

There is no doubt that Atomics is a fantastic reg and the company stands by there product. But I wouldn't trade my DR RG3500 for it!

There are many excellent regulators out there and the Apex, Posiedon, ScubaPro, <insert company here> people will all tell you how they love their regulator and think it's the best because of the experience they have had with it.

Maybe someone will post that they had a bad experience with one, but I think if that's the regulator you are looking at, you are making a very solid choice and you would be purchasing a great product. I don't think you will find too many people who will argue with that.

You only need to choose your color, now. :D
Got 60+ dives on my B2, mostly in SoCal waters,
but the last 14 dives were in Kona. :)
Works great in cold and warm waters at every depth.
I've got my eye on the ST1 to add to my collection.

I just bought a Z2 but only because I could not swing the cost of a B2 right now after purchasing everything else.

Had my first OW class last night and it performed like it's supposed to. I got the opportunity to breathe several other regs and not one of them breathed as easily as my Z2.

The B2 is even a bit better due to materials because if I'm not mistaken they are similar if not exact in design.

DO IT! Buy the B2.

The Atomic is likely the best piston regulator made, or it is a least tied for that position. That said, the major drawback is that it is a piston regulator ... I'd rather have a diaphragm first stage. If you do not share my preference and don't mind spending the extra money, then do it. You won't be second guessing yourself later about anything except a little extra cash.

Won't do it... Like 'em... Got one... Got an SS1, too... Good regulators... Don't like broccoli... Won't eat it... Like Atomics... (apologies to GHWB)

I wouldn't talk anyone out of buying an Atomic Reg. I've owned one for 9 years. I love it. I have 100's of dives on it in all kinds of conditions and it's performed flawlessly. My 9 year old Atomic is just as good as my brand new Apeks XTX200. I only bought the Apeks because I got a great deal on it and the shop I work for is not an Atomic dealer.
