The Kraken:
Note: I am a very, very new dry suit diver!

Having said that, I prefer the pool hall talc.
I'm just not too keen on running my hands down the inside of my dry suit with K-Y Jelly all over them!

Eeeeeewwwwwww . . .

All you need is a little on your finger, then run it around the inside of the seal. It doesn't take much, and you don't need it all over your hands.

When it's hot (and I'm sweaty) I'll use the KY, when it's cooler I use the talc.
I also powder the seals when my suit is hanging for a while.

DOH!!! My dumb butt !!

Thanks, T !!!

Didn't think about doing it like that. But then again, I'm very, very new to this.

I'll Use the KY to get Out of the wristseals too. A little swipe of it right at the skin/seal and your hand just slips out.

Ok a newb question...what about resin. The stuff that bowlers use?

Talc may be good for storing - probably is...
dbg40:
The talc is used to make it easier to slide the seals over your head, and hands, you should also apply a little to the seals after the suit is dry, and before you store it. Do not use powder that contains any perfumes as it will eventually damage the latex. You need to use a pure talc powder with nothing added. You can also get a spray bottle, and use a fiew drops of dish soap to spray the seals before donnong it. Just be sure to rinse the seal after use, and again, after it drys powder it before you store it.
But the last time I went to a DUI Dog Days rally, Dick Long himself - founder of DUI and father of current CEO Susan - told me to use diluted dishsoap to make the seals slide on easier.

I use diluted baby shampoo, in a small spray bottle, to help getting in and out. Also works great as a defogger. I don't talc while on a dive - too messy, but, I always powder down as soon as the seals dry, and no more dripping from the rest of the suit. I find if the seal surfaces touch, they stick to each other very easy. No problem if talc'ed. I think I remember that Bob, the Vicking dealer on board, has a good deal on un-scented talc and zipper lube sticks.

If you have latex seals, you can also you KY Jelly. That'll get even more looks from the people on the boat.

I tend to use talc on the seals when the suit is stored after a dive weekend as it stops them drying out and sticking to each other. I USED to use it on the cuffs and necks to make the suit easier to put on. This worked but i found several times the talc jammed my dump valve (wet talc is like glue) rendering the thing almost totally useless. Ive recently switched to KY jelly and as well as finding the suit easier to don with this than talc it also doesnt mess up my dumps. The local supermarket must be really confused by the amount of KY it sells. Nobodys told them its most of our dive club buying it for far less exciting reasons than some people imagine...

Neoprene drysuits ive seen people use KY jelly or baby lotion instead.

Actually, I thought the soapy water is mainly for the zipseal, not for don/doff at a DUI Dog Dyas.
DUI suit comes with the talc and zipper wax.

He told me to spray it on every wrist and neck seal before helping others don them.
