Thanks for all the input. I'll feel really comfortable now taking the class solo. I just have to brush up on my social skills and look for potential future dive buddies. I'm sure once I start taking the class I'll have a million questions.
well this is one of the advantages of doing the course solo. there will be other solo there and once you've gone through the group experience of o/w, getting used to each others jokes in class, sharing the moment of the first dive etc chnaces are you'll find some buddies (of course its also good to look for a more experienced mentor to dive with at first and offer advice rather than two newly certified divers going straight into it together wiothout an instructor).
 
i did mine solo and met some gret people been diving with one of the guys for nine years now.

My wife did hers alone.
My two nieces are doing theres alone(conflicting school schedules, ons in college and the other high school)
