I just checked www.mexicana.com and found that the airfare for two from cancun to cozumel one-way is $52.80 with tax. Pretty good deal if you ask me. I just booked one.

Thanks for the info - I just booked for Nov 10-15th . $62.50/person roundtrip!!

Just got back 3 days in Coz 4 in Playa del Carmen. Took the bus to ferry both ways no big deal. Missed the ferry (it leaves on the hour) the first time and had to sit and have a drink while waitng, it was tough but we survived. Tip, don't listen if people at airport tell you there is no bus. go out the departure doors and turn right. Bob

IF IT WERE ME, I'D WAIT FOR THE PLANE AND FLY, THAT BUS/FERRY THING JUST SEEMS LIKE A BIG HASSLE HAULING YOUR LUGGAGE AND GEAR AROUND WITH YOU AND IT WOULD PROBABLY BE FASTER TO FLY EVEN WITH THE 2.5 HR LAYOVER.
COMING BACK...SAME STORY, I THINK YOUL'D HAVE TO LEAVE THE ISLAND BY FERRY MUCH EARLIER THAN 2:55p TO MAKE IT TO CANCUN AND BE EARLY ENOUGH TO CHECK IN FOR YOUR FLIGHT HOME.
ANYWAY THAT'S MY 2 PECOS WORTH

I'm flying into Cancun and set to arrive around 5pm. Should I take the bus/ferry route or wait for a 2.5hr layover at the airport for a flight to CZM? Seems the price of the ferry has gone up to about $18US and the bus ride would probably be about $10 so a total of about 30. The flight is the same price about $25-30. Is the Bus/ferry ride a chore or is it sort of interesting/more interesting than the puddle jumper?

My departure fly is at 6pm, again the same question about the return, would need to catch a flight at 2:55 or take the ferry/bus. Thanks in advance.

Just returned from Cozumel- LOVED flying over- instead of the bus/ferry. We arrived in Cancun at 6:30 and had a 7:30 flight to Cozumel. We did carry on our stuff-(had to do some very creative packing) -I don't think we would have made the flight if we had to wait for luggage. We were the first through customs then had to take the shuttle over to the other terminal. Waited 20 min to board then a 10-15 min flight over to Cozumel. Dining at Prima's by 8:30! We would still be waiting for the 9:00 ferry if we hadn't flown. We then flew out of Cozumel 7:30 Monday morning to catch our 10:30 flight back to Kansas City. Very much worth the $62 r/t ticket.

BTW- We had non-stop Kansas City to Cancun on Frontier- great airline- free Direct TV all the way! (each seat had its own TV) really made for a fast trip.

Oh yeah the diving was fantastic!!!

Might be a dumb question but--is the flight from Cancun to Cozumel just a leg of your total flight or another flight you had to book separately? thanks

You can fly directly into Cozumel. We priced it at $200/person more expensive then flying to Cancun. That is the major reason why you will see people making the flight to Cancun and then working their way over to Cozumel.

We flew with a party of 6 - so we saved about $1000 by flying to Cancun.

thanks hochhauser.

I was looking at the prices for flying directly to Cozumel and the lowest was $486 with 2 stops and long layovers, so I might try the Cancun thing.

I like this site: www.bestfares.com . I never buy my tickets from them, but their quickfare finder points me to the right airline. (careful, they don't include taxes in their prices so they jump up about 10%)
