We actually have a X-Scooter Demo/XP day coming up on June 4th, but we haven't forwarded it over to the website yet. We where going to do it at DL Bliss, but I heard it doesn't open till late June. I'll keep everyone posted on exact dates in times just incase anyone would like to attend.

Scott,
Count me in for the Tahoe Demo Days. Sounds like there are a few of us who would be interested in a trip up to Tahoe. What's the water temp up there in June???

I'll have to go back through my logs but I think the water is in the 50's to low 60's in June. However, it all depends on how deep you go and the location you are diving at. For the demo day you probably won't be going all that deep so I wouldn't worry about it to much. I'll keep everyone updated on the Tahoe demo day. :)

Sorry not to have followed up.

There are two shops in Reno I would recomend Sierra Diving to be the first abd Adventure scuba 2nd. There is also Strictly Scuba in carson city.

It's hard to tell when Bliss park will open due to CA budget cuts, pluss having to wait for the snow to melt.

If you want quick access to deep water Hurricane Bay past Sunnyside is the place. 10 yards out and it drops of quick. Downat the point may be an interesting rock wall/ledge. We hit it at our turn around point for air and didn't have time to check it out. Definitly on my list of new places to check out this year. Plus you don't have to pay the out rageous park fee at sand harbor. 8$ bucks in the summer.

Any one interested in chipping in to rent a boat for a morning this summer let me know. There are several walls worth checking out but you need a boat.

I'd get some practice in on a scooter before attempting Rubicon wall. Once you loose it, it's gone!

Contact me if y our coming up this summer.

We've done a bunch of diving up at Hurrican Bay since it's easy to get depth. Meeks Bay is also kind of fun especially for new divers because it's nice and shallow with a nice dropoff. I would also second your opinion on Rubican on scooters Ed. It's not a beginners dive especially with the task loading on scooters. However, once someone gets competent enough to scooter Rubican it's an awesome dive and even better on Trimix.

The one thing I haven't seen in this thread is the reminder that Tahoe is an altitude dive (6225 ft.). Before you zoom up from sea level & jump in, you should spend time acclimatizing to the lower pressure, have altitude training and ensure you allow sufficient time to decompress before you start back (you actually go up to get over the mountains back towards the coast - just like flying, you can get bent if you're not carefull).

*thumbs up*

I have my Altitude Certification, and I can stay at the Ski Club Lodge at the Lake for $15 a night, so when you announce a demo day or a special ScubaBoard Demo day at Lake Tahoe, (hint-hint), I am there!

We did Meeks Bay. The dropoff was kind of cool (though easy to get deep), and it was very nice to have it start the drop at about 10-15 feet, so we could do a safety stop just by hanging off the side. Hadn't lake-dived before so couldn't believe how calm it was. Didn't have much to look at so just did mask-on/mask-off stuff. Good place to practice skills. Haven't tried the other places. Tahoe was pretty, but not wildy exciting. Oh, but if you could transport that 100' vis to Monterey!! We went in August and the water temp was nice though. For a change, I wasn't the only one diving without a hood. When we did the night dive, we actually didn't want to get out of the water, because the water was a far cry warmer than getting out!

Haven't tried anywhere near this time of year. I imagine the water is frigging cold?

I was out at Sand Harbor a few weeks ago and the temp water was 42 degrees. Pretty shallow so it holds warmth a little more than other areas.

It's like 60 degrees in the sun and the lake is like glass today!

We did a 70 minute scooter dive on the outer wall at Sand Harbour today and the water was 41 degrees with about 70'+ of vis. The weather was awesome and the lake was beautiful! We're heading back up there in a couple of weeks so I hope the weather holds.

Weather is supposed to hold through saturday. Snow shower for sunday and monday. Which good because i'm planning on going out saturday afternoon.
