Hi Jessica,

The only shops that I know about are in Sacramento and in Reno. The Sacramento shop is Dolphin Scuba and the person to talk to over there is Patrick. They are a PADI and have very good deals (I guess that's a relative statement ;) ) on drysuits. On the other hand, if you are going to be in the Reno area, give Rich a call over at Adventure Scuba and he'll fix you right up. They are a NAUI shop and Rich is one of the owners and is a great guy. Last thing you can do is buy a drysuit and tell them you want a drysuit course thrown in. If they won't do that, just take a drysuit orientation and find yourself some very experienced "drysuit divers" to show you the ropes.

I hope that helps, :)

There was a dive shop in South Shore, but when I tried them last year, they were closed for most of the winter. I forget the name of the shop. Sun Sports Tahoe?

Here is a link with some details and shops listed.

We got an instructor through one of the Reno Shops, but I forget which one. (how sad is THAT?) I think that it was Sierra Diving Center, but I am not 100% sure.

Hard for me to dive up there in the winter with all the white stuff on the ground. (12 days skiing so far; limited by injuries)

Hi Susie,

I just checked the date for the X-Scooter demo day and it's on 3/12/05. If you want a bit more info, please feel free to PM me and I'll be happy to help. You can also get some info by going to www.dive-xtras.com and clicking on "Demo". I can tell you that scootering out to Rubican is about the only way to go. We'll be up there a bunch this year as well as other part of the lake where scooters are really necessary. :)

Can you rent scooters for diving? I'm going to try to come up this summer but don't want to buy one just for Tahoe. I wouldn't need it off the beaches where I am.

You may be able to find a LDS up there in Tahoe or in Reno who rents some sort of scooter. The only place that I know of who rents anything worth while is "Manta Ray Bay Dive Center" down in Monterey. They rent Gavins, but they are expensive and I don't think they rent to just anybody. I would just call around and see who rents them. :)

Scott,

No mention of any Tahoe Demo days on the dive-xtras website. PLease post on Scubaboard if anything does materialize.

Thanks,

We actually have a X-Scooter Demo/XP day coming up on June 4th, but we haven't forwarded it over to the website yet. We where going to do it at DL Bliss, but I heard it doesn't open till late June. I'll keep everyone posted on exact dates in times just incase anyone would like to attend.
