I also did a few dives with Boy and New Wave late Dec, it all went well and can recommend them as well. The weather/wind meant all but a few dives on the west were not possible. Nothing really mind-blowing to report, but those dives are suitable for beginners.
Boracay is changing for the worse, so much development and full of posers (present company excluding of course lol). And expensive! Got stuck at a lousy hotel that employed child labour ('the breeze') - be sure to book direct with hotels and not through a booking agent like MyBoracay who try force you to stay your full period, even though you are very unhappy in the hotel. I cut our loses after a few days once there was no more dives to do, and then managed to fit in a day at Subic with Blue Rock, finally got to see the USS New York and a stunningly clear dive at the Canyons (prob due to the quietness of shipping action?) The bancas rudder fell off when we were at the NY, but the captain cunningly managed to get us home by steering with a dragging anchor in the water behind. Impressive improvisation!
December is not really a great time to visit Phils - besides being with loved ones over Xmas of course. The weather is mild but the days are short and everything is chock-o-block, which means service generally goes downhill.
