tacoing wings

I have a Dive Rite Trek wing that I use for singles on a BP. I had noticed that the wing tacos abit. After examining the wing, I saw it has a plastic keeper on eack side that accepts 1" webbing. After some research I found some info (though not sure how to even get it) that there is a elestic strap designed for the Transpac that holds it. After a bit of study, I just tied it to the round holes on my plate with some thin bungee. The problem with what I had done is that removal requires cutting the bungee. Has anyone developed a simple solution?

I had the same problem. I have my bungees fairly tight and added an extra cross path. I also have the wing zip tied to the edge of the plate around the edge (which helps to a degree). I also wondered what the extra clip was for. To get around cutting the bungee have you thought of attacnhing new bungee to it and taking it to the other clip but have it go around the front of the plate (next to your back)? I'm thinking I might try that tonight myself

Assuming the wing is the right size for the tank you want it to fold up around the tank. It only starts to be a problem when you use a wing meant for doubles with a single tank

The trek is listed for singles of any size and lightweight doubles. Why would I want it to taco?

According to everything I have read tacoing = bad. You want the wing to be flat.

Thats what I ahve heard too. I think Dive Rite's owners manual shows a diagram of how the wing should be and says taco is bad as it will not vent well.

If a wing functions for doubles, it is not the right wing for use with a single tank because it will be too far from the tank and not properly ride up around them as Mike stated.

Listen to RTodd,

Wings are application specific. Shape is driven by what tank(s) are being used. Lift is driven mostly by how much / what type exposure suit.

A swiss army knife might have lots of functions, and is advertized as such, but I'd bet you'd prefer your surgeon use the proper scalpel.....
