I'm in Sydney near Darling Harbor. Will be here Saturday and Sunday and want to get in a couple of dives each day.

I'm looking for an operator as close by as possible. I talked to a fellow at Abyss who said they do shore diving and they are nearby. He memtioned Bare Island and VooDoo dive sites.

What is the viz around here? Any info and/or recomendations appreciated.

Hi Don, i hope you are liking your trip down under!!!

you can catch a ferry over to Manly, cross the steet and walk about 50 yards to Dive Centre Manly. Shelly Beach is a nice shore dive, they use a bus to transport gear and diver to the site and return.

otherwise, phone Bondi Dive and see if there are any dives at Ben Buckler/Nth Bondi happening. If he offers you Camp Cove i would hold off for Bare Island. Camp Cove is a ok dive, but hello-thats a long way to travel for a small reef and alot of sand. to get to bondi, you can catch a bus.

Bare Island is a very good dive. if you do go with any dive shop - DO NOT take valuables and leave them on the bus, breakins are happening during the day now.

but - if you want to see Weddy Sea Dragons - you need to dive at Kurnell which is in the sutherland shire. to get to kurnell you would have to catch a train or ferry to cronulla. phone Aquatic Explorers or Pro Dive Cronulla to find out if they planning on diving Kurnell.

hope this helps in some way.
