sand? my diving is sydney is mainly rock hoping

we even have one site thats basically rock climbing down a sheer rock face, in full gear :D

Shelley beach would be the only one that gives me sand grief and i use the boat ramp now

Rock climbing in full gear???:god: <--to YOU my friend...

Now I'm scared of Sydney diving... I'm a lazy diver... love the drift dives in Coz and one day hope to dive Palau with a reef hook...

All jokes aside, ! really want to dive Sydney, I'll let you know what we decide. I'm thinking Sun the 17th. We have all of our own gear, but we'll need tanks. I'll also keep checking the mad frenchman's site to see if he adds trips.

nahhh - only the leap is that challanging

but i will warn you, sydney shore diving does mean a walk from the car to the water..... sadly parking isnt right up to the shoreline

depending on weather, it will either be

Bare Island; you gotta walk down the road, across the bridge, down the stairs and we enter via the rocks to the right of the bridge.

or kurnell, thru the park, down along the shore line for 2mins and enter

plenty of others, shelley beach, clifton gardens, balmoral, shiprock lots and lots - just depends on weather, winds and tides

oh, hubby asks do you use a camera?

Now L, don't scare the tourists!

The shore dives here are quite easy and well worth the hike. As a fellow Yank I will happily guide Americans on the local dive sites. All I demand is reciprocity. ;)

We will happily take SB'ers out on our boat privided weather is nice! It's not huge & fancy but she's brand new and "real purdy" She'll fit 4 divers & all the gear OK.

Do you come to Florida often?

ahhhh - well where in sydney is dear ol' aunty & unc living???

sydney is a pretty big place

do you haev access to transport? road trips possible??

:D

My aunt and uncle live in Epping, on Kent street if that means anything. Since I've never been over to visit I'm not really sure how close to Sydney it is. I sure hope to be able to travel around a bit and will rent a car if needed.

FishDiver

Always welcome to dive Northern California with me. I do a bit of posting on one of our local club sites (Welcome to northcoastdivers.org!) where there is some dive site reports that will give you an idea of what the diving is like in my area. It's not warmer water, Florida diving. I'm usually in a drysuit, but the underwater life is wonderful.

Cheers

hahahahah FishDiver.... ive found from experience that its best to be brutally (and slightly exagerate) honest about the shore dive walks as the US folk are use to boat diving and just rolling out. ive had one cannuck look at bare island and say "will someone be carrying the tank down there?" :D

and dont forget, youve been in sydney for a while now - you have toughed up! :D

DN, hubby also a photog so you 2 can bore eachother stupid! hes site is Welcome to the almity1 domain........... (but he has to update his site as he has just gone dslr)

DNC, epping is sweet - about 15mins drive from the cbd, 25-30mins to Shelley Beach (manly) and to Bare Island (provided you dont get stuck in sydney traffic!). i think either plunge at Clifton Gardens or Frogdive Willoughby will be the closest dive shops. and if you wanted to catch a boat dive, plunge runs them at clifton gardens and froggies sunday boat leaves Balmoral and if you want to do a quick sand shore dive after the boat then around the nets are seahorses (if you take pics that is)

Wow!! His rig is much bigger that mine. He's got some awesome pics. I'm just learning and dabbling. Nice website. (DiveNerd feeling :shakehead: intimidated)

But, you're right. My BF get soooooo bored waiting for me to take my shots.
