Has anyone who dives North County San Diego noticed that Swami's is now an ecological reserve? Anyone know the rules? The sign is quite vague. This used to be a great hunting spot. It hasn't stopped the commercial guys though, lots of traps.

I don't know the answer, but I've been meaning to get down there and do some freediving at Swami's because I hear it's an interesting shallow reef with lots of life. Would you say that's correct?

Correct, hand fed an eel there today. But, it's very exposed to any swell direction making the shallow spots a surf zone. It's best outside in the 20'+ range and when the swell is absolutely dead. Beware of the multitude of lobster traps.
