which computer would be better, the suunto vyper air or the new Helo2.
any advantages and disadvantages. what do you think

The Vyper Air is no doubt the most appropriate choice. It would seem that the only reason to buy the HelO2 is if you intend using trimix. I would hope that's a long time in the future, and by then there will be better and cheaper trimix computers. Also if you're serious about trimix then you're looking at a CCR, and it would be better to use a compatible computer, again these (CCR and Computer) are likely to improve and come down in price as more are sold.
Air integrated is not essential by a long way, so might consider other alternatives. Personally I like air integrated, but accept that it's a personal preference and not necessarily better than a pressure guage, and in some ways could be worse (loose signal, sender battey flat etc). Just to confirm my heretic preferences, I prefer console to wrist mounted!! Good luck with your shopping.

Since this thread has been slow to acquire answers, why don't you start by posting what you've already found out about these two and how they compare? That might prompt some discussion.

the HelO2 is a trimix computer which you can set all your dive plan on your pc, you can also use it as a regular dive computer. the vyper air is also a good air intergrated computer like the HelO2 but doesn't do trimix, i am not a trimix diver. these computers are both wireless. any suggestions maybe a different company

The Helo2 is essentially a combined replacement for the Vytec AND Suunto's entry in the trimix market. Very nice computer, very nice price for a multi-gas, helium-capable computer. Suunto has also enhanced some dive planning features and upgraded the Suunto Dive Manager, and markets the computer and software as a 'system'. It will probably sell well. But, it is quite a bit more expensive than a unit a non-trimix diver needs. If you are looking for an air-integrated computer, the Vyper is a good choice. Good, readable display, nitrox capable, can be wrist or console mounted, has a built-in compass (which divers seem to want these days). Notwithstanding a period of time last year when Suunto had a problem with some depth sensors they installed in one production batch of Vytecs, their equipment is reliable, durable and functional. My first computer was/is a Vytec, which I bought for air integration, and for gas switching capability (it allows switching between 3 gases) because I was planning to pursue decompression diving in the future. Seven years later, I still dive it, even on trimix dives as a back-up (to an X1). You will probably get a number of first-person testimonials about other computers as well.

can the vyper air use three mixes for deco bottles

I believe the vyper air is a 2 gas computer (don't quote me on that)

Are you planning any accelerated decompression dives in your future?

The Vyper is a single gas computer, the Vytec is multiple gas.

I personally prefer pre-cut tables and down-loadable gauge mode computer for mixed gas technical diving. It's the plan your dive, dive your plan thing, which I think is very important in technical diving.

Which ever route you go Dori, you'll save money buying it at Leisure Pro (sorry Dori, I couldn't resist) :D
