Ok just got gift card for scuba gear. I'm looking at the Suunto Vyper air wrist computer. Features I'm looking for include wrist mount, air integrated, user replaceable batteries, remaining air at depth, PC download with good software.

Comments from users of this computer or suggestions for some I haven't considered are welcome and requested.

The Vyper Air seems to fit all of your requirements.
I personally don't like the Suunto Dive Manager software, so I use a third-party application (MacDive) instead. Your choices for logging software will be dictated by your OS.

It is a decent recreational computer. Can't say I care for it for technical diving,... much too conservative against my other tech computer. Some other features the Vyper Air has, that you may or may not want or use is an electronic compass (I've never used it. I usually use an analog compass), you can adjust the conservatism a bit on it. Personally their dive planner isn't too bad.

Thanks for the replies so far, I don't see myself going tech any time soon, who knows what a few years will bring. The software is not critical but I do like the fact that you can get the cable as part of the package. I currently have a genesis react pro, and while it is fine, I've heard the software is crap and you have buy the cable separate. I see the compass as a bonus, but I'll likely leave my console, and react with compass on the regs for at least the foreseeable future as backup/redundancy, until confidence in the setup is solid.

I have 2 Suunto Vytec s - I love the computers but the wireless air integration feature has caused me terrible problems on both units. I finally switched to brass and glass gauges but continue to use the wrist units.

Never had any trouble with my transmitter, myself, other than losing the signal code. Easy enough to reset. One thing (may or may not make a difference with those transmitters), is camera flashes or florescent lights can interfere with the signal.

I assume you would be referring to strobes and the like, I'm only using a compact digital in a canon u/w case, nothing serious photography wise anyway.

I have had Vytec and Cobra's but due to some problems I have with compasses and connections I have gone over to the Galileo Luna. Has been fantastic. I have lost connection a couple of times due to strobes but it will reconnect and depth with no problems. The display is clear and the compass is nothing short of fantastic. But everyone has thier own opinions.
The Luna may not have a smart name like (deep booming voice turned on) VYPER or COBRA but it does the job well. Many cavers in Europe use it as it is quite happy with the ups and downs in a cave system where the Suuntos get a little confused.
