Hi

Just wondering what peoples experiences \ reccomendations of these two computers are?

I like the idea of the intergrated compass but was wondering if anyone who has used one thought this was useful and worked well or whether its just a novelty?

If it is a good substitue for taking an actual compass then I would be quite tempted with the D6 but if not then I could probably save some money getting the EDY.

Thanks

Iain

I have a Suunto D6, and i love it.

When looking at prices ( 15 reviews - Suunto D6 Wrist Computer reviews in Dive Computers - Buzzillions.com ) i Can tell the Cressi is ~390$ and the D6 is around 700$ that alone might have an effect on you.

From what i can read, they have more or less the same specs.

I never tried the Cressi, but then again, i never considered anything but Suunto. The only choice when i made mine was weather to get a D6 or a D9, i decided on the D6 since the only difference between the two ( imo ) is that for the D9 you can get an optional wireless SPG that i heared mixed opinions about.

One thing is sure, with the D6 you get a very reliable dive computer, that you can have for a long time. Had mine for 1½ year now, and its taken quite a lot of beating, since i got a bit care less with it after a while. No scratches or anything so far.

The compass works very nice, i used it for backup compass in the start, but now i rely totally on it. Only thing is, each time you get to a new place (new place as in, flying from place to place, not like dive site to dive site, more like from country to country ;) ) you need to recalibrate the compass, but that only takes ~30 secs.

I think the question you need to ask your self is, what kind of money are you ready to spend on a dive computer.

Hope this helps you decide, GL with it :)
