Looking for a good backup watch/'puter, and landed on Suunto... Trying to decide between the above 3...

D6 and D9 are almost identical in features (D9 does wireless tank data... not sure I need that in a backup)...

D6 and D9 also have integrated digital compasses (nice touch... and useful)...

Stinger... doesn't have the compass (but with the stainless band, certainly looks cool!).

Thoughts?

D6 has the deep stops, I would not buy the D9 for a back up because of price but you can get it without the transmitter.

Good backup watch D6 and D9?
I will take D6 as my depth/timer without transmitter

Thanks guys... I think I was settled on the D6, myself, and y'all have confirmed that direction...

I have the Suunto Stinger as my primary computer and have no complaints at all! Awesome computer.

BKP, good choice on the D6. I had a Stinger for five years and it is a great little computer, but I just upgraded to a D6 and as well as doing all the stuff the Stinger can, it also has the aforementioned compass and Deep Stops, but also the ability to handle two gas mixes, so eventually, if you want to do excellerated deco, this will be able to do it. Plus it is virtually the same size as the Stinger (I wear them as everyday watches) and not too bulky like the D9. Better strap than the D9 too.

Maybe this is old news for some,

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE - SUUNTO D9 AND D6 DIVING INSTRUMENTS (recall)

http://www.suuntoservice.com/safetynotice/diving/

Thanks... heard about this. However, I've also had cars and boats recalled (both of which I'd buy again), and oftimes it's a constructive wake-up call for the vendor... nature of the beast, sometimes, I imagine...
