I believe Gatorade G2 has 25 calories per 8 once serving (7 grams carbs), which is hardly "massive". It's more than a stretch to even mention diabetes. If you're active your body will gladly soak up those carbs. If you're not active it's better than any non-diet soda. 8oz of Pepsi is 100 calories/27g carbs.
 
There is so much misinformation about sports drinks.

All this talk of "50/50", its bad for you, yadda yadda is really unsubstantiated. If you're active/ sweating and need the calories and salts, go for it. I've seen more than enough people (soldiers, in my case) drink water all day long when working hard, but still fall ill because h2o is only part of the picture.
 
If you WANTED to get diabetes, certainly drinking Gatorade frequently throughout the day would be one powerful way to obtain the constant insulin spikes associated with insulin sensitivity....and once you have the insulin sensitivity, diabetes is nearly knocking at the door :-)
Agreed... but we are talking about specific activity based hydration needs - not the day long guzzling of a chair-bound pleb...

Fine,...... they have only sold how many billion bottles of the high sugar gatorade? The point is, this is NOT a company that cares whether the sports drink will be good for an athlete or a thirsty couch potatoe..they just want to sell gatorade. The G2 ( while not destructively high in sugar) still has completely the wrong mix of electrolytes...I assume because Sodium Cloride is much cheaper than potassium, and all Gatorade cares about is profit.

I don't claim to know all the theory and mumbo jumbo that other people are writing about on here. I do know that I use NO Xplode daily and I dive 2-3 times per week. My max depth is 130' but I usually dive around 100'. I've had zero adverse affects from diving while on NO. If anything I feel more alert and have more energy, which helps with loster hunting. :D

I don't think there is any reason to worry about NO Xplode. If anything, you want to be sure that all of your bloodvessels are NOT constricted, as that can lead to bubbles getting caught and piling up..so if anything, the NO ExPlode should help your offgassing..by keeping narrow passageways clear/less narrow :-)

Products like Alacer's electromix have the electolyte part down very well, and are easy to bring with you. A complete solution, perhaps the best I've seen, is H2O Overdrive.... see h2ooverdrive.com
When used on a long diving day, I stay perfectly hydrated so deco issues are safer, I don't end up feeling weak or hungry after each dive, ( drink it before and after each dive) , and I have far more energy AFTER diving for the rest of the day....could be less osmotic stress from better offgassing with optimal hydration---could be just better nutrition throughout a dive day--less fluctuations of blood sugar, and the after effects low blood sugar will provide.

No offense but it could be just placebo effect. I don't doubt that maintaining adequate hydration could make you feel better after a dive. However it is hard to draw sweeping conclusions with an n of 1.
