We’ve lost days to nortes but not to hurricanes/tropical storms - and we’ve been throughout the years, about every two months. But all it takes is the right timing and our lucky streak will be over. As @ggunn said ‘ you pays yer money and you takes yer chances’. I won’t be one of those folks who says ‘you’re in paradise, who cares’ because I very much care about getting my dive days in. I get it.
 
To the best of my knowlage 'your' dive shop has never charged a customer for a dive trip canceled due to a port closure. I personaly have never seen a charge for any canceled trips.:)
Lol...I don't pay 'cause I've never been asked to pay not because I refused to pay. :)
