I just don't log dives
So recently I was given an older 0.5 liter luxfer cylinder. It is pressure tested to 300 bar (4500 psi) which makes it 5cf. I was curious if this would be useful as a suit inflation bottle. It came with an older DIN valve which is in working order. But at 3500psi it would only be around 3cf, is this too little for a suit inflation bottle? Would I be able to use a inflation regulator like highland mills makes?

Thanks in advance all.

What kinds of dives are you planning to use it for (depths, shapes of the profiles)? With what gas?

I typically use around 2cf of gas for a recreational dive, maybe 3cf for something deeper (~150').

If you're planning to use it with Ar, can you get it boosted? Most Ar bottles (at least around here) aren't filled much higher than ~2200psi.

In any case, I personally would not be happy with a 3cf bottle.

Probably the most common bottle used in these parts for suit inflation is the Luxfer 6cf. The 6cf. (@ 3000psi) can get me through at least a few good dives. In a shallow training environment I can stretch it for a couple days. But I'd be hesitant to take only 3cf with me on a "real" dive. If we're doing multiple dives per day, I'll either top off the argon or switch out bottles. Much like I wouldn't enter the water without my back gas and deco bottles full. If you have to scrub the dive, it's not just screwing your day, it's also screwing your team's day.

It just won't work. If you are using argon, you will have to boost it considerably. If you want aluminum, a 2015 14cf bottle would be good. Steel use a Faber 2400 2 litre
