Well if you can't find the Kodak Pak, I'd go with the Canon Ixus range, slim, pocketable and sleek are it's strong points..

Interesting Gilligan... I'll have to look at that kodak (intriguing dual lens/ dual CCD design!), but I suspect finding Kodak's in Asia will be tough! But agree with you 100% on it being pocket size. As much as I loved my Canon S70, it was still too chunky to toss in a shirt or pant pocket. Any bigger, I'd rather take my DSLR with me.

That camera is made in China like everything else :D
You should be able to get it.
I bought the import model from one of those NY camera houses to save some money.
It came with a flexible tripod (counter top size) and some monitor protectors, which you need because of the size of that monitor.
You also need to buy a memory card for it and maybe an extra more powerful battery.

I have done loads of research on digital point and shoot cameras and I finally settled on the Panasonic Lumix. It is the best point and shoot camera in terms of image quality, battery life, and portability. It uses a Leica DC lens, which is why the image quality is so good. Best part is that it has a 16:9 movie mode, which looks great on my HDTV.

cbboromeo, oooh that pana goes wide to 28mm... interesting... I personally prefer a wider lens than the xtra zoom for a ultraslim pt n shoot.

I'm buying my wife a Cannon SD700 IS for her pocketbook camera (I just ordered a Nikon D80 for myself!). It's almost as small as those deck-of-cards sized subcompacts, it has a 4x zoom, has a nice display, an optical viewfinder, and good low light capability thanks to the mechanical Image Stabilization system. Here's a good review of the camera:

Please post a review if you buy one or if you find a particularly good online price.

Thanks
David

I have a Minolta Xg (you might be able to find one still) that is really hard to beat for a shirt pocket digicam. This line of Minolta's has the internal lens so nothing sticks out. And, just in case, there is a case available that easily fits into a BC pocket.

I, too, use the Canon Digital Elph (Ixus everywhere except the US). The SD200 I think, it's my "glovebox" camera. Oddly it ends up on vacation a lot!

All the best, James

Looking for a compact (pocketsized) digicam for topside use to supplement a DSLR. It's for those days where you just don't want to lug around a DSLR and lenses... Don't plan on using it underwater. So far I'm leaning towards a Canon Ixus 800IS (SD700is). Used to have a Canon S70 which was great for its full manual and raw capability, but still found that to be slightly on the too-big side for tossing in a jean or shirt pocket. Any other suggestions for a nice slim digicam?

Canon SD550 works great for me, except

1) not great battery life
2) Scratches easily (LCD and the camera itself)

They are up to the 750 or so now I think which has widescreen

Or even the Lumix DMC LX2

If hadn't bought my Canon A620 to shoot underwater I would have gone with a Panasonic Lumix camera for my "take anywhere" camera. I take the Canon when I don't want to carry my DSLR.
