Old thread, but I figured I'd just post my questions in here.
I've been doing a lot of reading on here about DIR. I've got to admit a lot of the stuff makes perfect sense, so I've started changing my rig to more of a DIR setup. Got rid of the comfort harness on my BP/W for one-piece webbing. I've ditched the 2-gauge SPG/Depth console for just a brass SPG (by the way the 2 gauge console is for sale, though I doubt anyone under this forum will be interested). I replaced some of my hoses, to "clean-up" my setup with hoses that are of more appropriate length. The next thing I'm interested in is going to the long hose. Regardless of how far down the technical road I decide to go, it's just never comfortable doing share air exercises with a standard octo hose and that's doing it in a controlled, training environment.
I have a few questions:
1) It looks like some people bolt snap their long hose to the right d-ring. I'm curious to what the purpose is of that? Is it a comfort thing to help hold the reg in position? Just seems to me its another step you have to perform to donate in an OOA situation.
2) I do not have a canister light, so it seems the correct thing to do is tucking the remaining hose into your waist strap of your harness. For anyone else that does this, do you ever have issues with the hose wanting to work itself out?
3) As far as the bungee for your secondary. Seems like it may be better to make your our from bungee cord (instead of buying the premanufactured one), so you can more or less modify to where you want it to rest under your chin.
Thanks in advance for any input/advice.
