Even with the flood, I'd still recommend checking out the Dorcy. It's wicked bright (way, way brighter than the PT), it's tiny, very well focused, and cheap. I'm HOPING future reliability won't be an issue...

and I know people your size who are (or were) using standard scouts too :)

I got my spouse a Raider because Scouts were too long. I don't like them on the right either. Hits my can light.

mine hits the can if i have it flush with the backplate
if I leave a little slack between the can and the plate it's fine

I've had my one to 100+ numerous times, under the ice, and carry em on every dive. Over 75 so far and no issues. And still on the original batteries! The 2 new ones just got wet monday night. They really do look like light sabers underwater the beam is so tight. Yet just enough spill to light up to the side quite nicely. At 15 feet the main circle is about 8-10 inches and the outer is in the 2-3 foot range best as I can judge.

probably mine does too, although like below I do leave a gap between backplate and canister to make the canister easier to switch on. Probably so does Jamies

Not had a problem with it so far in 600 dives though...(now of course it will cause a catastrophic canister leak on my next beach dive)

I have a pretty narrow frame, and my PT also hits the light can; on a couple of occasions it has actually flipped the switch and turned the can light off. It is a bit better with more webbing slack on the can light, and I don't plan on replacing the PTs anytime soon.
