If you are interested in history/politics, then you should check out:

"Reformasi" by Kevin O'Rourke, imo the best political book about post-Suharto Indonesia.

Also, "In the Time of Madness" by Richard Perry, a first hand account of Indonesia during its darker years.

"A short History of Indonesia" by Colin Brown also gives a good, yet brief, overview of Indo.

Avoid the 'chick lit' books, most of them are dead-set boring, irrelevant and a chore to read.

I can't stand these expat recollection books, that are basically like "look at me, I love in a foreign country. How exotic, they don't use forks..."
