For those that have pondered the idea of getting a scooter let me relate Saturday's dive. My buddy and I got to the beach early with our Suex xjoy 14's. Suited up, hit the water and immediately hit the triggers on the 14's, Scootered all over the first and second reef line (inner second reef), covered approximately
a mile and 1/2 in about 50 min and climbed out of the water with 2100psi sill in my alum 80. And for most of the dive we scootered into a very fresh south current. Would have stayed longer but my buddy had to be back in Miami.

Last month a group of us did Hole in the Wall off Jupiter on the Suex's with doubles, shallow stage and 70' deco bottle. Spent an hour cruising from 140' up to 110' then deco all on the trigger. Scooters change you!

:) I've had my 14 out for about 4 dives so far. It's a really well designed scooter, I'm loving mine so far.

What is this kicking you speak of???;)

I ride a Genesis.:D I wish I had good shore diving here. We were just talking about a long weekend in your neck o' da woods.

Bring your Genesis and we can dive together with my Genesis, too.

My DPV (also a Genesis 600) is hands down my favorite piece of gear--it's totally changed how I do any dive and makes CCR safer by limiting exertion. It's oodles of fun whether I'm just freediving or doing hours and hours roaming deep ledges/reefs, it's one of the easiest to maintain things I own (yay no shaft seals or latches!), and it's easy to take a tiny, 32lb DPV with a 5+ mile range pretty much anywhere. I don't think I've done more than two dives without it since I got it last year, and I dive a lot.

Sorry but I ment South Florida where the OP is from. I grew up in Manteca and had a girlfriend in Sebastopol. Not heading to Cal anytime soon unfortunately.

I am getting my better half a Gen 600 and maybe a body and battery for my 1200 to convert it to a 600. That way we can fly with them when we want. I am with you DL the Genesis is my favorite piece of kit bar none.
