My doctor read me the riot act when I told her I took Sudafed. I have high blood pressure and she said this will make it worse.
It can act as a stimulant, chemically similar to Speed/Amphetamine. I have a long list of meds (OTC & Prescription) I am now taking and my allergies that goes with me to any physician visit. I added several doctors in the last few years, who all added their scripts, so it's good that they know about the others.

This sort of thing is why it's a good idea to test out the medicine at home. I take Sudafed and notice no difference, unless it relieves congestion topside or aids ear clearing when diving. Some people would notice more of an 'adrenaline rush' type experience.

I had a co-worker who had a paradoxical reaction to Benadryl; it makes many people sleepy, but revved her up.

I break out in a diffuse maculopapular rash, same as Tylenol and benzocaine.

is this what you read? if it is, the way this is written sure seems to indicate you are in fact allowed to bring it in with a prescription if you follow all the rules that go along with it.

No. Pseudoephedrine is absolutely banned in Mexico. The bits about prescriptions pertain to controlled substances that are legal in Mexico but which require a prescription. The same rules would apply to someone traveling to the US. For example, heroin (diamorphine) is available by prescription in several first-world countries, but trying to bring it into the US with a prescription will be a problem. Bringing in methamphetamine with a prescription is fine.

I've taken about four or five Claritin-D 12 hour pills with me. Haven't been busted yet.

From the FDA's website: Legal Requirements for the Sale and Purchase of Drug Products.

Each state has their own regulations. In Oregon, it's only available by prescription. When I go to Florida, it's behind the counter, handed to me by the pharmacist. They take your I.D. for the electronic log.

When I go to Mexico, I transfer it out of the original packaging to another prescription pill bottle labeled as something else. Sudafed or something containing pseudoephedrine is part of my dive med kit. Sudafed PE contains phenylephrine, which is not the same and is not as effective as psueodoephedrine, as told to me by a pharmacist.

Little more than a placebo. I take my pseudoephedrine on the original card, 24 - 60 mg white pills that include an antihistamine from Walgreens. I think the red pseudoephedrine pills are more likely to be noticed. I have never heard of anyone being busted in Cozumel or Cancun, but if I am - I'll post a report.

Products containing pseudoephedrine are now available in Oregon without a prescription, the result of a law the Oregon Legislature passed in 2021 that went into effect Jan. 1.

Oregon and Mississippi were the only two states requiring a prescription for products such as Sudafed until their respective legislative sessions last year.

Oregon's House Bill 2648 was the third attempt of former Rep. Bill Post, R-Keizer, to pass this concept through the Legislature, and it succeeded with bipartisan support. Gov. Kate Brown signed it into law June 15.

Hopefully, if ... maybe, eventually ...

Or we'll hear about the the takedown of drug-kingpin El Don Dandy on the news.

I don't need it everytime i dive but do need it now and then. I go with the 12 hour pill.
