Hi All - bought an em5 and 60mm macro about a year ago and done 2 trips with it. Was OK but not brilliant. When I compared it to the 50mm macro I had on my E-520. It just was not as sharp as I expected it to be. Not bad just not pin sharp...

Messing around with my U/W settings and took a couple of shots and I thought -Got IT! the lens had some condensation on it (as it was humid here yesterday in Australia). But no - nothing.

Just as I am thinking I will go back to my e-520 and sell this second rate set up, I noticed the 60mm macro had moved from 0.19m-inf. to 0.4m to inf. Moved it back and it is sharp as a tack.

What amazed me was that I was taking macro shots in the 0.19m range that were coming out only slightly out of focus and could be fixed with a touch of sharpening on that setting. Not sure why.

I suspect it has been like this for both my last trips. Anyway I am hoping my next trip to Bali in March will be of a vastly improved order.

I will add check lens for proper focus setting to my written protocol. Good tip. I am surprised you got a focus lock.

Yes so was I, checked it at min distance and it locked on with no problem. I guess taking shots in manual might have been an answer but I checked it in P mode and it did the same.

Very frustrating as my last trip to Bali was a great trip and of the 8 things on my love to see list I saw 6. Missed out on the mimic octopus which I saw on a previous trip but wanted better shots and a nudi who's name I can't remember right now...
