Minor update: Their website says, beside the picture

"Intermediate Pressure Tester
Small gauge fitted with a quick release nipple to allow the intermediate pressure of a 1st stage to be read by snapping the gauge onto the direct hose feed."

I must be missing something. Am I plugging it in the wrong hole? People, please save me from my ignorance which is no longer bliss! :)

Hi InTheDrink: It should attach to your BC inflator hose quick-disconnect coupling.... assuming it is the same size on both the hose and gauge.... there is a "universal" coupling that a lot of BC's use.... then there are others for various manufacturers. Look here at scubatools IP gauge to see what I mean: Pro Technician IP Gauge with 4 SpinOn Adapters

They sell their gauge with different spin-on adapters so it can be used with a broad range of inflater hose couplers. My guess is that you need a different size fitting on the gauge to match your hose fitting.

Good luck, and Best Wishes.

Hi LTSD, yup you're right.

In my impulsiveness I didn't check to see what the difference between the Apeks and Seatec IP testers was and chose Apeks. Naturally the difference is the inflator hose coupling. I'm returning to simplyscuba and they're going to send me the Seatec one.

This is a recurring theme with me, sending goods back to simplyscuba because I didn't check the fitting of what I was buying. Maybe it's a theme of scuba purchasing online.

Anyhow, that hopefully problem solved.

Thanks,
John

All's well that ends well; I just want to know how you fixed your thread heading. IT to IP?

P.s. Here is a pic of the three most common inflator fittings- From left to right: Standard, Scuba Pro, Sea Quest.

Just so that you don't feel like you are alone in your "impulsiveness": I have a nearly-full closet that is a monument to my impulsive scuba purchases :rofl3:

It has become much harder to convince my wife of the necessity of scuba purchases these days.... when she simply has to walk over to the closet, fling open the door, and raise an eyebrow

Best wishes.

....I'm that way about eBay purchases. I see a 109 or a BA coupled with a MK V or a MK10...I just have to bid on it-never mind I have a closet full. I rebuild them an put them in a plastic bag feeling all proud of myself. In my defense, I have managed to sell a few things lately. "See Dear, I just sold a regulator. Now I can afford another piece of equipment."

.... I'm about to start doing the same, couv, (ebay selling that is).... time to return some freshly-rebuilt-but-currently-unused gear to the ocean where it belongs.... we'll just need to be careful not to move stuff from my closet to yours (and vice versa) :D

Best Wishes.

Note: But I'll be easy to spot when I start selling on ebay, my user name there is the same as on scubaboard, so that any unhappy buyers can track me down and yell at me here!

.....that reminds me of the joke about two guys who kept selling each other the same pony. One would buy it, nourish it for a while and the other would buy it back. He would comb it and clean it up and sell it back to his friend. After several exchanges, one of the guys sold it to a third party and his friend admonished him by saying, "You darn fool! Why did you sell that pony? We were both making a damn good living off of him."

... No ponies in the closet here..... well, wait, I have a yellow Al30... oh never mind :D
