Nine days ago, I dove off Freeport, Texas down to about 100'. When I came up, my thumb and two fingers on my left hand were tingling. It was more intense than my usual fire coral stinging. The next day my thumb and fingers still tingled and, in fact, were more sensitive than usual. After a few days, I started using triple antibiotic ointment. One finger healed. Another has a small spot where the skin is a little less pliable, but my thumb is still irritated. If there is swelling, it is very slight. I don't think there is a fever although the affected thumb is a little red. I'll admit that my early antibiotic ointment treatments were irregular but now they are constant.

Any suggestions? I'm thinking of going to the doctor.

why are you thinking of going to the doctor? just go!

and try not to touch things in the future, since touching fire coral sounds like a regular thing for you.

I am just curious why you did not seek the advice of a medical specialist after surfacing with what could have been a neurological symptom?

Do you know that you touched something or did the symptom just show up after you surfaced?

Did a rash ever develop or was it just the tingling then increased sensitivity?
