I have upgraded my camera to a C-5060, still keeping my C-3030, but need some help picking the right strobe for my new one. Does anyone have any recommendations for a stobe for the PT 020 case?

Many of the recent strobes that use a fiber optic cable between the camera and strobe will work, with a little fiddling to attach the cable to the housing. These include the Inon S2000, Z240 and similar higher-end models.

This is now an older camera. When it was released, there were a couple of strobe adapters made for it by Heinrichs Weikamp: The "Digital Adapter" and "TTL Converter". Both allow you to use older strobes you may already have -- for instance certain older Sea & Sea strobes like the YS60 or Nikon SB-105. The Adapter converts the camera flash to electical signals and has two versions, for Nikonos style interface or for Sea & Sea style interface. The TTL Converter replaces the Olympus PT-020 housing bulkhead connector and converts the camera flash control signals from the camera hotshoe to either Nikonos or Sea&Sea electrical signals for the strobe.

HW still offers these products and they are supported well by Reef Photo in the USA. If you buy the TTL Converter, it is probably easist to order from Reef, send them your housing and camera, and let them install and test the setup. You need to verify with them that your strobe will work with your camera before ordering.

The Digital Adapter is simpler to install and most users find the install easy as a do it yourself project.

I have used an Inon D-180 optically triggered for several years now with my 5060. I recently added a D2000 so that I have a two strobe set up. It makes for a big rig but adds some versatility with lighting. If you already have access to a strobe that requires an electronic connection, the H-W adapter looks like the hot set up. If not, it adds to the potential cost (depending on what strobe you decide on) and the fiber optic sync works just fine, at least on the INon's. Good luck.
