Barbara Streisand has lost her legal challenge against www.californiacoastline.org for publishing photos of her Malibu estate on the web. www.californiacoastline.org is a website dedicated to capturing images of the California coastline in an effort to monitor environmental degredation of the coast over the coming years. Streisand tried to sue for $10M because the website had photos of her house shown on it, which just happens to sit on the coast.

The judge dismissed the case, and ordered her to pay legal costs. Funny that she should ask for $10M when the operator of the website has a few hundred mil laying around.

I've loved her music, and the fact that she seems to like Catalina Island. However from stories I've heard around town about the way her "front" people act, I'm less than impressed. We try not to treat celibrities any differently when they visit the island (heck, we're rude to everyone). I expect her to wait in line for food like everyone else.

Of course if Angelina Jolie or Lucy Liu want to dive with me, I'll drop everything (probably right on my toes!).

I was quite pleased she lost the suit. His photos serve a scientific/conservation purpose and her home is one of three in the picture and does not identify the street address.
The photos are taken from a distance without telephoto lenses and people are not recognizable in the photos. In fact he tries not to have any recognizable people in the photos.

Barbara Streisand's initials speaks volumes.

I have old vinyls of hers.

They work great for patio pavers. :)

Those shots are amazing. My grandmother used to live at paradise Cove back in the '70s, and on one picture (http://www.californiacoastline.org/cgi-bin/image.cgi?image=3854&mode=big&lastmode=sequential&flags=0 ) I can actually see it is still there. Blue dbl wide that my dad says she bought for less than 20K. Guess what it goes for now? We used to park there free 'cause grandma lived there, so we'd launch a Zodiac and dive outside the cove, or up at Pt. Dume. Ah, the good old days.
Wonder if I can file a suit on behalf of (God rest her sole) grandma?

BTW. Anyone have the link to see BS's house?

must be a real strain to be the center of the universe....;)

I don't quite see myself on the LAX areas; what about you, M2?

Rick Inman once bubbled...

Yeah, but I don't want to get sued :D

I think there's a specific link to the picture from the homepage, and details of the case.
