I broke down and got a pin spanner to get my Hog D1 open.

To open the first stage, instead of using a pin spanner.

Yes. Even added a stud through the nylon strap. Still did not work well. Them made a tool from angled aluminum that worked OK. Finally bought a proper pin spanner.

yours is nylon? mine is rubber.

I'll try it later. Mainly curious if it would work in a pinch.

There are bike tools for opening up the bottom bracket (crank) that work fine, pretty cheap too.

I tried rubber also but did not want to put a hole in it.

seems like way too much work. pin spanners are like $20...
