I will be diving on the Straits of Mackinac shipwreck located near Chicago this weekend. What is the visibility usually like on this ship? Also, is there a blueprint of this ship anywhere on the net? I understand it's in 80 feet of water with a temp of around 53 degrees.

I don't know if there is a plan of this ship available, but it is quite open and it is not hard at all to navigate. The visibility has been around sixty feet on other wrecks at this depth in the area lately. You do not want to stir up the silt or you will not have any visibility at all. Even though this is a very new wreck, silt is beginning to accumulate. It is very light and will stay suspended for many hours if disturbed.

I dove the wreck 2 weeks ago the vis was about 30 to 40 ft. water temp was 55. My computer read the depth at 75 ft

I'll be in the Chicago area next weekend and this sounds like a great wreck to dive. Does anyone have the numbers for it they'd be willing to share?

Thanks in advance.

Here is a link to lots of info, including a plan and photos (taken before it was sunk).

I haven't been on the Mac yet this year, but vis is usually pretty good, 40 feet or so (that's good for Lake Michigan). It's a great wreck to dive. Have fun and dive safe!
