The computer I have (old Suunto Favor S) was in a console, but I bought the Suunto wrist strap for it and now use it on the wrist. I have a console cover, and have just been stuffing the computer into it before sticking the SPG in. I've been thinking thought about getting some small Pelican case or something with padding in it to hold thecomputer, maybe also my cellphone, wallet and keys while I'm diving. (I'd leave it at the car, wouldnt' take it down with me)

So I got to thinking, what do most people do to protect their wrist mount stuff? Maybe new computers come with a nice case or something.....or maybe everyone buys a pelican case?

I tuck my wrist computer in my mask box, there's plenty of room and I want them around the same time anyway.

When I bought a Vyper it came with a heavy nylon pouch, but not really padded. My Gekko didn't come with anything. I really don't see these as that delicate, I think a padded Pelican case is overkill.

Mine goes in a Pelican case that I originally purchased to store our glasses when we are diving. The case was one of the wisest purchases of accessory bits we made. I was really worried about protecting them when we were boat diving in St. Lucia. Now it keeps the computer between dive days.

My spare computer, a 1 button Oceanic Data Plus is in a hose mount similar to the big wrist mount. I found that the bottom half of a Yoplait yogurt container, when properly trimmed fits snugly over the boot of the hose mount, while leaving room for a couple spare batteries inside. The cover keeps the buttons from being accidently pushed while the computer is inside a suitcase or gear bag.

My wrist unit has spent it’s surface intervals for the past 11 years inside my glove, in my BC pocket.

good point, you can't exactly wear a pelican case.

Granted, I don't have gloves :) That's a thought though. The way this strap is designed, it won't lay flat--it's curled up always. I could take out a little rubber thingy but I don't want to lose it and taking it out all the time would increase those chances. Putting it in the console cover works, my main concern is scratching the screen. Igot the computer real cheap, but I still want to take care of it!

My SmartTec came with a little padded nylon bag that I put it in once it has dried, and that gets stuck into my reg bag. Until it has dried it either gets attached to my bp/w shoulder straps (so I don't forget it next time I go in) or tossed into my regulator bag with my regs if I'm packing up for the day.

Dive computers are pretty tough. You just need to keep them off the ground.

I either put them on a small pelican case, or when I am beeing lazy (or just forget the case) throw them into the fin's socket.
