How common is it for the really large stingrays to frequent shallow water, waist deep or less, where snorkelers or shore divers are apt to get on one? I have no idea, but these posts led me to wonder.I've seen Southern Stingrays the size of a hot-tub with a spine a foot long. Nothing short of armor plate would stop something like that.
Depends on what part of the world you're in. In the Caribbean one finds scorpion fish, which from what I've read can be agonizing, but based on reports stone fish are at another level.Not just rays, don’t forget stone fish.
