This isn't another hoax is it? Steve Irwin's been reported dead before... several times in fact.

Alas, Archman, it is real. He's no longer with us.

I'm grieving... I thought he was a great guy, who absolutley adored nature, and was willing to share it with the world.
He will be missed.

My thoughts go out to his wife and beautiful kids.

Two things...

1) This should not come as a shock to anyone.
2) It's only a matter of time until the video of the accident is released.

I would hope the video of the accident does not appear on some
tabloid news show in attempt to profit or sensationalize his death.
That would be another tragedy.

Whenever it surfaces I hope it is respectful, but I'm sure people want to see the circumstances which led to the stingray's actions.

I have been struggling with this all day. My brain just doesn't seem able to accept that the Croc Hunter is dead. I guess he was just one of those guys you tend to think is invincible. He was so full of life, I don't think I ever saw him even once without a smile on his face. My thoughts are with his family. This is a very sad day.

another day and the headlines still trumpeting. our prime minister gave a press conference about Steve last night and the Irwin family have been offered a state funeral.

i read a few posts ago that his daughter was with him - this is NOT true. his wife and kids were treking in Tasmania at the time.

as much as when watching his show i would cringe at his antics, he is thought of as the family memeber or neighbour that could live next door. im sure he drank far too much red cordial

for those that arent aware, money from the crocodile hunter shows was spent on buying huge parcels of land all over the world to protect natural habitat of widelife, his australia zoo facilities has the largest animal hospital in the country and the zoo itself employed over 500 local staff

cheers

"It must have cut an artery or something, perhaps in the neck area."

I read on msn news that the barb when threw his heart.

"sorry if someone else posted this info, 14 pages is a lot to read threw"

I was just shocked when I heard the news earlier today.
It feels like i've lost a close friend or family...

My deepest sympathies go out to his loved ones :(.

I loved watching his show and seeing the obvious enthusiasm and love that he had for wildlife.
And his dedication in bringing across the beauty and wonder of them to the average viewer.

Thank you Almity for that

I am sure that many people, who were not aware of that ... might of kinda dismissed him as a "showman"

a truly likable guy is gone now

The world lost another great person, no doubt.
Condolences to his family.

I wouldn't be all that surprised if the video was officially released, as it's my understanding he wanted to die doing his thing and having the cameras rolling.
