First of all, Manos is not an idiot, he is one of the most competent, patient and knowledgeable divers I know with the experience to back it up. He did not call any one person an idiot, nor did he single out anyone to bash. Most people will dive a lifetime and not do or see the things he has, so don't make assumptios about someone without all the facts.

The fact of the matter is that diving with a wetsuit and steel doubles is not a good idea, and it offers only problems not solutions. Just because one person can successfully overcome the enormous amount of negative buoyancy does not mean that everyone can. This is why as a widely accepted rule it is more prudent to use a drysuit. Actually a drysuit is an excellent choice in almost any diving endeavour. Just choose the appropriate exposure protection to remain comfortable for the duration of the dive.

On a final note, we have been receiving many emails happy that we are here and doing our best to offer what knowledge and advice we can as DIR divers. Our friends at GUE and on Quest have asked us to take a more smooth and non aggressive approach to some of the postings on this site, which quite honestly there are many unforgivable postings, but we will do what we can to address these in a professional manner. I ask you all to do the same. Lets talk diving not stab each other in the backs.

I don't think any one questioned his experience. Speaking for myself, I know plenty of good experienced divers. I've also dealt with guys with his attitude all my life and can do without it here. But...I usually step in rather than out so you guys decide what the dialog will be like.

Wet suit always pose the same problem. If your correctly weighted at the surface your over weighted at depth. the more suit you need and/or the more weight you carry the worse it gets.

First off, I don't think any one asked for your forgiveness. As for the e-mails, some people like to be abused and Jim Jones had no problem finding followers either. No reason to change your aproach on out account just remember what goes around comes around. If that's the way you all do things people might as well know. You make it sound like GUE/quest sent you.

Talking diving sounds good.

No GUE nor Quest sent me or anyone else, but we have been discussing quite often some posts that have come up, so me and some others just kind of made our way over to check it out, and I thought that I would join in and do what I can to share what I know or have learned and of course to always learn somehthing new to help myself as well.

I am always direct, to the point, no BS etc, but I was amazed how many private messages I got when I came over, and also how many people said that they hope the tone can be a bit more passive. OK, no problem, hopefully we all want to share and learn and I will try to bite my tongue sometimes and be a bit less aggressive. As you said, lets talk diving....

Take care

Let's be honest while we are all out in the open...you can't explain the MHK wetsuit thing, so you send a message to quest asking to take it down. Others can verify that this was posted to quest today.

Then, you post a message saying how everyone here is an idiot and will either cause you to spill your coffee, laugh your head off, or have a serious heartattack.

No intelligent conversation? Anytime you would like to leave, go for it...like I said, we don't need the imbecilic sockpuppets here. I don't know who you guys think you are, but a lot of people here read quest and throwing people under the bus there just makes you look like <deleted> here. <deleted>

Oh man, I need a new pair of undies. I just peed the ones I have on and spat my coffee all over my keyboard I was laughing so hard! O-ring, you owe me a new keyboard! :)

Brau, why would I keep gas that I don't need? The scenario posited, where you are too heavy to swim up, can only happen at the start of the dive where the mass of the gas in your tank is at maximum. With a balanced rig, weighted correctly at the surface, it cannot happen at any other time; you can EASILY swim up 10 lbs from depth. I've done it as a test more than once. Its not a big deal.

So if you have the problem at the start of the dive, before you've accumulated a deco obligation and such, bleeding off the gas is no big deal. You won't need it. Why are you going to ditch a $1,000 HID cannister light when you have another good option?

You've been drinking too much Grape Kool-Aid Braun.

This is soooo funny. Kane gets caught with his FLAB around his waist, looking like he's 9 months PREGNANT, in living color, after preaching here and elsewhere and in fact starting a huge FLAMEFEST about smoking, overweight people, and diving, and how GUE won't train anyone who is or does either.

And they guy is - from the photographic evidence - WAY overweight. Definitely beyond the "normal" BMI range, and I hazard to say, from the photographic evidence again, that he hits the medically-defined term "obese".

So here's an instructor who doesn't even meet the requirements of a student! If it wasn't sick it would be funny.

AND he's diving in a wetsuit, at WKPP, with LP104s on his back. Double 104s at that.

Yet here he has been, along with the other DIRites, screaming from the pulpit about how we're all gonna diiiiieeeeeeeee if we don't do it the DIR way.

Never mind that he doesn't. At all.

Never mind that the entire GUE/DIR claims are, by the clear and convincing photographic evidence, a pure lie.

Just like Bill Bennett; "one must live a life of virtue, and I will be, as soon as I have one more pull on this slot machine!"

The GUE/DIR credibility timer has expired gentlemen - and I use that last word quite loosely.

Quest? For what? Idiocy?

You guys have made my morning.

Have some more Kool-Aid. The grape is good stuff. ;)

The last 2 posts are a complete joke, <deleted>

GUE/DIR expired. HA you obviously don't climb out of your cave much.

You also conveniently left out that George immediately replied that the person in the picture was an idiot and that picture was put up somehow when the site was out of his control.

People like you 2 are dangerous and get people killed. you think you are experts and have bragging rights, <deleted>. We started a professional and non aggressive post, and you panty wipes just had to step in and give your expert advice.

Get one thing straight <deleted>-, and to make statements like these people are idiots and don't know what they are talking about is hilarious. Lets see you go downtown to 18000. You would make a better attraction there to take their minds off the 7 hour penetration as you would stay there for all time.

<deleted> if you think your <deleted> responses or insults make me mad, angry or affect me in any way, you are sadly mistaken.

Grow up and talk diving or <deleted>

So that this isn't an unproductive flamefest, let's review some key points so you can walk away with something useful. You are not George. Period...end of story. He can say whatever he wants to and has the reputation and knowledge to back it up. Just because you saw him tee off on some poor idiot on quest, doesn't mean you can run all willy nilly all over the internet and do it to everyone else. George is George and you are....well, you are you I guess.

You did a bad thing for DIR here. I can't stress this part enough. <deleted>You think that "slammin strokes" (see your profile screen) is fun, but what you did do is make enough people dislike you enough that they went looking around for holes in the armor of DIR. No, not you personally, <deleted>, but in the system you promote. Guess what...they found some. Then they pointed them out and you looked stupid again when you tried to cover them up. If you had come in here, been helpful to people, and eased them into the message, none of this would have happened.

I can only hope the next internet forum you decide to grace with your presences can benefit from what you learned with this little sociological experiment.

First you call the person in the picture an idiot...then you say I am not fit to wipe his backside... (he is a GUE instructor in case you didn't know).

If hanging out with <deleted> like you is what it takes to be DIR, then count me out. The real DIR divers do not act like you guys and I wish someone would pull all these posts before you convince another 200 new divers that DIR is only for arrogant <deleted>.

I think you are just pissed because you <deleted> can't stand on your own and win a battle. You came, you saw, and without the millions and millions of lemming brethren present...you fizzled. Let's see YOU go to 18 grand and stop talking about someone else's achievements..

O-ring once bubbled...

Something like this would be typical, "blah blah blah blah stroke blah blah blah blah stroke blah blah blah blah you will die blah blah blah blah I rule"

OMG....that is hilarious....Now I have to go get another MT. Dew, as the one I currently have is all over my desktop...

I especially like the I-Rule part....I want to dive with those guys sometime, oh wait...I don't have a doubles rig or a drysuit, I guess I'm not worthy.

DIR is not for arrogant aholes, and certainly not for sniveling people like you either. Guess what. We don't want you or people like you.

I would never portray myself as an expert in something I was not competent and had experience in. No I am not George, don't say I am, don't say I know anywhere as much as him, but I learn more from him than you can possible imagine. Many of us do, those of us strong enough to keep an open mind, listen and do what he and other experts say is the right way, and to be strong enought to take a bashing from time to time and then correct where where needed.

DIR is a way of life and complimented by the appropriate equipment configuration. All you have done in this post is whine, and you are also whining at the wrong person. Look at my profile and see where there is anything about slamming strokes or anything like that.

We are here to help clean house from people like you so those people that are here to learn have a chance to, and if it is going to be a battle with you all the time, bring it on.

DIR is not only the most intelligent and professional application in diving, but also based upon the facts that are indisputable.
