I just purchased 2 used steel tanks. They appear to be LP95's.

DOT-3AA2400
B262119 GAV 11/94+
B262120 GAV 11/94+
SHERWOOD SCUBA 5000 VALVES

Would these be PST tanks? Who else was making steel tanks around this time? They are painted.
Thanks

If you bought the tanks from jefffalcone, then I looked at them last week while hunting for LP104s.

The tanks jefffalcone had were 8" diameter but too short to be 104s. I did not remember the length. What is the length from the bottom to top of the neck (where the valve is screwed in)? A LP95 should be 24.75" according to the charts.

The paint looked "aftermarket" and the tanks were galvanized underneath.

Yes I got those tanks. When I got home I noticed the valves were loose, did you look inside them?

No, I did not look inside as I am looking for LP104s and the tanks you got were clearly too short to be 104s. Do you have a chance to measure the length from neck to bottom without boot?

Since the valves were loose and the tanks obviously empty I would ask the LDS to do a VIP just for peace of mind if the tanks are still in hydro. If they need hydro then a visual inspection is part of that at the hydro facility. Your LDS may charge you for another VIP and the sticker.

In any case you got a good deal on them. A new Worthington of similar capacity sets you back about $340.

The valves were loose just handling the tank and there was very little air in them so I drained them and took the valves out. Some light orange rust in one and a little more in the other. I think they will be ok. I think I will have them VIP asap. Maybe try and get a Hydro with a "+" if I can find a place that will do it. Do you know of anyone around that can tumble a tank in case the surface rust is an issue?

The length was 24 3/8's and it weights 40.5#'s without valve and 41.75#'s w/valve +/-. So yes I believe it is a PTS LP95.

I found a Norris trademark on these tanks last week. Does anyone know REE numbers for Norris tank?
