Im moving from the uk to Canada and will need to buy new doubles.
I currently dive double faber standard 12.2 litre 232bar
What do people generally use for tech dives to 200 feet max. It's rare that I do this kind of dive.
I'm confused by the different sizes available on North American websites.
Is there a standard neck thread size? I may bring an Apex manifold and bands with me, might work out cheaper.
Any advice appreciated.
The advice you've received so far is good. You will need new tanks and manifolds because of differences in the standards. You may be able to reuse your bands.
When I dive back-mounted doubles, I use double HP-100s or occasionally HP120s. They are the same diameter with the HP-120 being longer. Like Wookie, I find the weight of HP-120s to be a little more than I can handle comfortably. Some divers use HP-117s which are essentially the same size and weight as HP-120s, but are larger diameter and shorter in length.
Many of the used twinsets on the market are the older low-pressure cylinders which complicates the purchasing decision somewhat. Twinsets do show up on the used market from people switching to rebreathers or getting out of technical diving.
