Did 2 dives today, water temp was 62 degrees, visibilty wasn't bad about 12 feet. Got 6 keepers, one was the biggest I've ever taken, just made the 4 inch rule.

OOP's, typing was never one of my skillsets.

Was the big bug a male or a female? I've been trying to keep an unofficial count regarding the ones I've caught. So far the smaller, keeper-sized bugs, have been male and the ones over the 5" max have been almost exclusively female. In fact, the last time at STB all the keepers we caught were male. Also, does it make ecological sense to leave the larger females in the water even though they are under the max limit, not v-notched and not berried?

Sure, just tuck em back into their hidey-holes so I can come along behind you and grab em. :eyebrow:

It was a male. However the biggest lobster I've seen at STB was a female covered with eggs. It must have gone 7 or 8 pounds. It had 1 large claw and was growing a new one as well.
